Fr. Mekhail S. Hanna

Fr. Mekhail S. Hanna was ordained into the priesthood by the hands of H.H. Pope Shenouda III on the Pentecost Sunday of June 7, 1987 to serve in  “El Malak & El Romani Coptic Orthodox Church” (translates into  The Archangel Michael and St. George the roman Coptic Orthodox Church).  Before priesthood, Abouna (translates into our father) was responsible for the Church Youth group and its services; whereas after his ordination he became in charge of the Servants Preparation Classes. Fr. Mekhail Hanna
During his service back in Egypt, God blessed the Church a lot. El Malak and EL Romani Coptic Orthodox church has been renewed and rebuilt in the year of 2000, despite of the great persecution to Christians in that area. Moreover, two major services have been established:
  • The “Hope” service – or “El Ragaa” – that took care of kidney failure patients in a large radius area.

  • The “Thrown Attendant” service – or “Tarihi El Ferash” – to serve paralysis patients, mostly.

Lately, Abouna was elected to lead the prayers of Christmas, Epiphany, and Easter in America and Canada. While Abouna was visiting St Antonious Coptic Orthodox Church in May of 2006 in order to celebrate Easter, the congregation expressed their need for a permanent priest.

Finally the Lord answered the prayers of His people. It was published in "El-Keraza" – June 2006, page 15 – that Fr. Mekhail S. Hanna was chosen to serve in Portland, Oregon. He has now been serving this congregation since August 2006.

We thank the Lord for His choice, and also thank H.H. Pope Shenouda III and H.G. Bishop Abakir. Congratulating our congregation we also pray that the Lord keep watching over us.
